Advanced Module
Brief Overview
Our popular master’s level advanced module provide you with the opportunity to extend your clinical reasoning and practical skills and to develop your competence still further in musculoskeletal medicine.
Stepping onto an advanced module with the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine provides you with access to highly skilled tutors, all of whom are working clinically and can offer their many years of practical, hands-on experience and clinical reasoning skills.
Who are our advanced module for? Our advanced module is open to all experienced HCPC registered allied health professionals, registered osteopaths, registered nurses and medical practitioners wishing to integrate these skills into the clinical management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions and or to provide evidence for their progress through the portfolio route to First Contact Practice and advanced practice.
The module can be taken as a stand-alone master’s level course credit rated by Queen Margaret University.
The Theory & Practice of Injection Therapy module reviews and develops the clinical reasoning and injection therapy skills needed to practise injection therapy effectively and safely.
The module aims to:
- Give you the opportunity to reflect on your current practice and identify how you can develop or further develop your advanced practice.
- Extend knowledge in functional anatomy and biomechanics
- Develop your competence in joint examination, assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment including manual therapy, exercise and injection techniques
- Enhance clinical reasoning and evaluation supported by current evidence
- Develop non-clinical skills of advanced practice, including presentation skills and critical appraisal of literature/research.
